Grown Ups Role at DCM
Visiting
the Museum with Your Child
DuPage Childrens Museum is a positive-experience museum where
every answer is the right answer, and theres more than one way to
do everything.

As an important Grown Up in your child's life, you play a vital role. When you visit the Museum, you can co-learn with your child or children by considering the following guildines:
|
Follow your childs lead |
- Children learn best when they choose activities that interest
them.
|
|
Talk with your child |
- Ask open-ended questions such as, "I wonder what would
happen if
?" or "How are you planning to make the
next part?"
- Offer encouragement: "You really tried hard!" or "I
can tell by the look on your face that you really like playing
with the water."
|
|
Play with your child |
- Children learn with relationships with adults they care about.
- When children share an experience with an important adult in
their lives, their self-esteem is enhanced.
|
|
Enjoy the moment |
- Relax and have fun.
- Savor this special time with your child.
