NEW! Animals in ArtLand:  Wild Wings opens September 16

Naperville, IL – This autumn, the sky’s the limit at DuPage Children’s Museum (DCM), one of Chicago's top 10 cultural attractions.  The Museum continually develops new ways to enhance visitors’ experiences and will be reopening to the public September 16, with a refreshed building, parking lot and a number of exhibit changes that add up to a delightful, playful, interactive and evolving learning experience for members and visitors.

The biggest change visitors will find this season is on the upper level, in the new Interact With Art Gallery, Animals in ArtLand: Wild Wings. This gallery is an original, eclectic display of kinetic sculptures, collages and paintings from all over North America, chosen to appeal to children (and adults) of all ages and is presented locally by the City of Naperville SECA fund and the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency.

Imagination will take flight as you explore and interact in new ways with the wonder and beauty of creatures with wings.  Some of the possibilities include adorning a fantastical creature with the wings you like best, interacting with fine art, designing a set of butterfly wings or putting on a costume to fly with pterodactyls or soar with butterflies.

Animals in ArtLand: Wild Wings also includes educational programming with Brookfield Zoo.   On Saturday, September 30, Hamill Family Play Zoo Play Partners will come to DCM to help participants build bird playgrounds, 10:00 a.m.-Noon and 1:00-3:00 p.m.  Call or visit the Museum for additional information regarding how to help build these bird playgrounds. Sunday, October 29 for Boo! at the Zoo, DCM Facilitators will be available with winged costumes 10:00 a.m.-Noon, at the entrance to Australia House (where bats are located) at Brookfield Zoo, or in the Hamill Family Play Zoo, in case of inclement weather.
