  Einstein Never Used Flash Cards

Kathy Hirsh-Pasek, PhD, and Roberta M. Golinkoff, PhD, co-authors of Einstein Never Used Flashcards: How Our Children REALLY Learn – and Why They Need to Play More and Memorize Less, will conduct an informative discussion about early childhood education on October 5 at 7 p.m. in the Education Center at Edward Hospital, 801 S. Washington St. in Naperville.  This event is open to the public as the first of this season’s DuPage Children’s Museum Just for GrownUps adult education series, which awards Continuing Professional Development Units (CPDUs) to program participants at the completion of each program.

The authors will highlight play as a central component in children's mental growth--helping children make meaning in their world, learn about themselves and learn how to get along with others—and discuss how difficult it is for adults to resist the trends of our achievement-oriented society when we're faced with the choice of allowing our children more downtime or signing them up for the latest class, sport, or activity.
