Naperville, IL:  2007 has been a year of many celebrations for DuPage Children's Museum--the Museum’s 20th Anniversary year.  Now, the Museum is pleased to announce that for the second time this year, their graphic designer Oralia Anderson is the recipient of a national 2007 American Graphic Design Award, presented by Graphic Design USA of New York, THE news magazine for graphic designers and other creative professionals since 1963.

Everyone in the community is invited to submit entries to the Graphic Design USA competition: advertising agencies, graphic design firms, corporate, institutional and publishing in-house departments, and more. The award honors outstanding new work of all kinds: print and collateral, packaging and point-of-purchase, internet and interactive design, broadcast and motion graphics, corporate identity and logos.

Winners receive an embossed Certificate of Excellence for each piece selected and become eligible for reproduction in Graphic Design USA's Awards Annual, a 300-page edition which will be seen by more than 100,000 readers at ad agencies, graphic design firms, in-house departments and more during the course of the year.  The three decade-old competition is sponsored exclusively by Adobe Systems Incorporated.

Earlier this year, Anderson received the 2007 American InHouse Design Award for the imaginative invitations she developed for this year’s Imagination Celebration Ball—the DuPage Children's Museum 20th Anniversary record-breaking fundraiser held on April 21, 2007.  Now she is also the recipient of a national 2007 American Graphic Design Award for the design produced for the DuPage Children's Museum 2006 Annual Report, which can be viewed on the Museum’s web site, at: http://www.dupagechildrensmuseum.org/dcmAnnualRpt07.pdf.

Commenting on the award, Anderson said, “The design for the Museum’s Annual Report and design award represent the commitment DuPage Children’s Museum, a non-profit organization, has to design--from exhibits to print materials to programs and events, the Museum always places great emphasis on effective design.  Developing the annual report was a collaborative process that resulted in a unique report that portrays the Museum appropriately to the intended audiences.”

DUPAGE CHILDREN’S MUSEUM:

DuPage Children's Museum helps kids learn how to succeed.  Throughout any given day, about 1000 visitors come through the Big Red Door of the Museum in Naperville, Illinois to engage in 3 floors of hands-on activities. It is a playful, fun environment where children 6 months to 10 years old and the important adults in their lives learn and play together in thoughtfully planned “neighborhoods”, with exhibits and programs designed to promote skill development in math, science and the arts. It is designed to prepare kids for a future where curiosity, creative thinking, imaginative problem solving and learning skills will be needed to interact with technology that is yet to be invented, to solve problems we can’t imagine and work in new kinds of jobs that don’t exist today.

2007 is an Imagination Celebration of the importance of play for DuPage Children’s Museum, a top Chicago area cultural attraction, celebrating 20 years as the place where learning comes in to play™!  The Museum is a non-profit organization and depends on donations and sponsorships for over $4 of every $10 of its annual budget. Your media support helps us reach families and makes a difference in the lives of thousands of children in our community.  Thank you for all you do!
